Why GenPDF

Find and replace with GenPDF: what is different

Every match in its own font

A name in a heading and the same name in small print each keep their own font, size and colour after the change.

Check before you change

Step through the matches page by page, replace only the ones you choose, and undo a Replace all in one step.

Real text, not a patch

The old words are replaced in the PDF itself, so the new ones can be searched and copied, and nothing is pasted over the page.

Questions

Find and replace: questions and answers

Does the search match capital letters?

It ignores them: “paris” finds “Paris” and “PARIS”. Your replacement is written exactly as you type it.

What if the new word is longer?

Each match is rewritten where it stands. A replacement much longer than the original can run into the words after it, so check those lines before you download; undo puts everything back.

Can I find words in a scanned PDF?

Once its words are text. GenPDF reads scanned pages if you agree; choose Make text editable to save their words into the PDF, and the search finds them.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Finding and replacing happen in your browser. A scanned page is sent as an image only if you agree to have its words read, and deleted as soon as they are read.
