Translate a PDF and keep its layout

Translate the pages you choose into English, French, Arabic, German, Spanish or Portuguese. Each paragraph is written back in its own place, in the same font where that font has the letters, and you review a draft before your document changes. It uses AI: it needs a free account and your agreement, and only the text of those pages is sent, never the PDF file.

Why GenPDF

Translate PDF with GenPDF: what is different

The layout stays

Each paragraph is reflowed inside its own space, in the original font where it has the letters. A longer translation is set a little smaller, never under 70%; one that still does not fit is left as it was and marked.

Only text is sent

Nothing is sent until you agree. Then only the text of the chosen pages goes, through our server, to the AI model: never the PDF file, its pictures or its name. GenPDF keeps neither the text nor the translation.

Your terms, your check

Add a glossary such as invoice = facture so your terms are used every time. A paragraph whose numbers or amounts change is not written, and you can correct any line of the draft before it reaches your document.

Questions

Translate PDF: questions and answers

How do I translate a PDF without losing the formatting?

Choose the PDF, pick the pages and the language, and choose Translate. Each paragraph is written back in its own space, in the same font where it has the letters, so headings, columns and tables stay where they were. To read the whole translation as flowing text instead, open the Reading view: you can copy it or download it as HTML.

Which languages can I translate into?

English, French, Arabic, German, Spanish and Portuguese. The PDF itself can be in another language: a Spanish or Italian document can be translated into English, for example.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No, the file is not uploaded. After you agree, only the text of the pages you chose goes, through our server, to Anthropic, which runs the AI model and, under its API terms, does not use it to train its models. Never the PDF file, its pictures or its name; GenPDF keeps neither the text nor the translation.

Can I translate a scanned PDF?

Not in place: a scanned page is a picture of words, and a translation cannot be written over a picture. To copy its text, use OCR; Summary and Ask in the AI panel can read it once its words have been read.

Do I need an account?

Yes, a free account with a confirmed email address, because the translation runs on an AI model. Before you start, the panel shows how many paragraphs will be translated and about how many credits that takes. Most other GenPDF tools need no account.
